What are the New Year Resolutions?

People have different opinions about the need for and the effectiveness of New Year Resolutions.

Here’s my opinion:  The technicality of how you frame your goals really doesn’t matter.  What is meaningful is that we do take the time to think and assess where we are, and where we desire to go in our lives.  This holiday season doesn’t have to be the marker in time; but, if you need one, use it.  We should always re-assess where we are and make the necessary commitments and adjustments to live a better life.

We only have one life to live.  Prayerfully, it will yield eternal life and not eternal damnation.  Who else is going to live our life, if we don’t consciously make sound decisions?

Whatever it is you want to see happen for you and everything that concerns you, I encourage you to make sure that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life.  When we allow Jesus to have His way in our lives, we can be assured that what lies ahead is territory that we can certainly handle and will exemplify the goodness of the Lord.  Once God is in charge, the ride of this life is a blast!  Even in the most difficult times or situations, with God we can certainly say, “This would not be possible if it were not for the Lord.”

I told someone who interviewed me yesterday that I can say this about Kimberly’s life:  If life were an amusement park, I entered with a ticket and have not come out yet;  I’m not lost or drunk in the park;  I’m having the time of my life, having to repeat some experiences over again, but the world looks different when you’re having fun.”  Pursuing passion that is God-given with the Holy Ghost who is our helper, right alongside us, is  immeasurable.  So because I want to continue in this life, I’ve got to make sure as I get more mature, I’m physically fit, have the financial resources to impact nations through our missions works, and so forth and so on.

Goals with clear objectives are necessary.  Let’s achieve them and give God our best as we enjoy life!

For me, I’m going to finally (YIPPEE YEAH) get back into gospel music with three new artists;  there’s a whole lot more, but some of the achievements aren’t online friendly information.  But, this sister will be much happier because of HARD decisions in 2012!  Hope you roll into a great future as you enact and see the fruit of accomplished objectives.

Happy New Year!

Prophetess Kim

Thank You, Lord!

It’s cold and starting to act like winter today.  I LOVE the changing seasons.  There is always something for which we can appreciate God.  Something as simple as feeling the brisk weather did it for me today.  What is it that you are thanking God for, today?  We are admonished to give thanks to God in everything, for this is the will of God concerning us.  Truly, I can say I’m learning to thank Him IN everything.  A lot of stuff we experience in this life, God doesn’t author, endorse or participate.  However, wherever we may find ourselves situated, we can surely say, “THANK YOU, LORD.”

In talking with our Father this morning, I had no idea He was going to usher me into a miracle today.  I’m talking about a foot-stomping miracle.  I SMH right now!  Faith without works is dead.  Fight the good fight of faith and put whatever works that are necessary to see the substance for which you hope, appear right before your very eyes.

For those of you who need an extra push today, sometimes it is DIFFICULT to even want to read the Bible or pray.  I’ve been there.  Remember, it is at our weakest moments that we are made strong through Christ’s strength.  Put on strength today by hiding in Jesus.  Go and dwell in that secret place of God’s pavilion where He knew you’d need to be.  The reservation is made and the Angels of the Lord are in route to carry you.  You’ll make it!  He’s waiting to give you peace, rest and cover you.  You are SAFE in HIM.

Meanwhile, listen to a couple of songs to uplift you as you focus on the only one that can change you as He changes your situation.

Because I am a fan of New York choir gospel, here’s one of my favorite Timothy Wright songs, Thank You Lord:

And, you might as well listen to Tye Tribbett & G.A., I Need You:

Love you!

Be Strong and of GOOD Courage!

I’ve been wanting to blog on this for the last three weeks.

Have you ever heard someone say, “At least I have the courage to live according to my convictions.”  Sometimes, this is a wonderful thing.  Too many times, it is not.  This got me thinking about “courage”.

Courage is defined as:

1. mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.

2. the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery.

3. have the courage of one’s convictions, to act in accordance with one’s beliefs, especially in spite of criticism.
There are too many people throughout history who have had no fear in living according to their own convictions.  Their convictions were detrimental, destructive and wicked.  Hitler had courage.  Khadafi had courage.  Osama Bin Laden had deep moral convictions:  He, too, had incredible courage.  Many cold-blooded mass murders have not stuttered in living according to their own convictions.  We even find likeable fearless characters in movies who are heroic in their pursuits to get what they want, when they want, at any cost to anyone in their way.  Courage, in and of itself, doesn’t meet the mark in whether braveness and boldness is a great thing.  There are graveyards, church pews,  families, counseling centers, slave ships and incinerators that have been full-and remain an open revolving door-of casualties of people who have made decisions in boldness to do things that others would be afraid to do.  Much of what is courage isn’t synonymous with honor and valor.
As believers, we need to go deeper.  It takes great courage to put away a woman who has five children with her husband, gotten older, and all of a sudden is  visibly deplorable because Sally Sue who is 20 years younger, and willing to cheat with a married man,  is now the new wife.   It takes great courage to steal from adopted parents who chose to provide a loving home for a child who now resents them because they have biological children of their own.  Convictions, moral standards and predilections provoke action.  Should we always answer to them, as is?  Mis-directed courage is what the enemy uses to enact his purpose to steal, kill and destroy.
It takes great courage to examine our convictions and ask whether they be of God.  This is when we can expect to have the promises of God to come to pass in our lives, because our bravery and confidence in traversing through difficult situations without fear will always yield victory.  We have this assurance because we know that God is with us.  God is not with us in sin, wickedness, and our fleshly agenda.  God is with us as we “live out” the heavenly agenda and when we do fall short, we receive His grace through repentance.
I encourage you to ask one pivitol question:  Why are you here in the earth at the very moment you are reading this blog, as opposed to 1627 A.D.?
You have a purpose in the earth NOW.  If we seek our Father for the heavenly agenda and how we fit into it as Kingdom manifested in the earth-not give God our blueprint and expect Him to be in agreement with things that are not His way-we might find that we need to make some adjustments.  Our convictions and consequent courage just may have to change.  We cannot afford to keep shrugging shoulders at heinous morality because that is where our conscience feels good  and hear a sermon or pick a verse  to justify lack of Godly conviction, every time.  Godly conviction does not bring condemnation.  It doesn’t validate sin or wrongdoing, either.   It brings acknowledgment and repentance so there can be forgiveness and  restoration to God and those we may have sinned against.
See, “good courage” in scripture-Old and New Testament-requires us to be bold, confident, take [on] courage, and to wonder, confidently.  Our good courage will upset some things because our convictions are in Godliness and the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  This kind of courage-good courage-is going to yield the same type of results it did for Jesus; sometimes, people are going to reject, deny and persecute you because of your convictions according to God’s way.  There will be destruction.  But, this destruction is the violence that the Kingdom of God suffers, as we take what is ours and push back the forces of darkness in the enemy’s territory.
So, as you deal with that difficult situation, put on courage and let it be in the way of our God.  Once our convictions are sure and in Christ, anything that lies ahead we can approach like a front-line soldier ready to conquer any fiery dart, but more importantly, advance the Kingdom of God.
I personally salute Bishop John H. Boyd, Sr.  For all of the years I’ve sat under his tutelage at the New Greater Bethel Ministries in Jamaica, New York, one thing is for sure:  when he sought the Lord and God showed him, we were going with God, sink or swim.  Tradition, family obligation, strong opinions, or nothing stopped him from doing what he believed God desired.  Nothing.  I encourage all leaders to continue to stand because you never know who you will influence.  Sometimes we used to think everything wasn’t adding up properly with pastor, because he was so insistent to be faithful to God and what God desired according to His Word and seeking His face.  If God knew it would be sleeting outside on Wednesday night, sleet doesn’t stop the prayer that God called on Wednesday night if only 3 people showed up.  This kind of stuff may seem ludicrous, but as I walk with the Lord years later, I see the advantages of taking oneself out of the picture, and simply yielding to what God desires.  This is what being fearless is all about.  There is nothing to fear in trusting God and doing what He will.  This is good courage.
So I say to my friends and those who will obey, be strong and of GOOD courage!
Blessings,
Prophetess KIM

You’re Invited!

 We are celebrating!

Our intercessory prayer group has been on the line for 5 years as of this past June.  God’s grace is sufficient!  We can’t begin to speak of the testimonies.  God has done great things for His people and the Kingdom of God is alive and well.

We began this call in obedience to the Holy Spirit as a group of intercessors committed to praying for ROLWIM, the Body of Christ, the world and all that the Holy Spirit would reveal according to His burden and agenda.  To be quite honest, I didn’t want to do the call at all.  Praying each Saturday morning?  The one morning I want to sleep until at least noon?  What about pancakes or homemade Belgium waffles?  Or, better yet, if I want to go away and just chill somewhere for the weekend?  Me, me, me, me, me.  Sounds like NOISE when God needs intercessors.  God told me to conduct the call on Saturday mornings, not the weeknight schedule I wanted to go with.  We have a group of committed intercessors that are on each Saturday morning, rain or shine, summer or winter, on the road or not, in the hospital or not (one mother was in the hospital and called in and we could hear the monitors), you name it, our faithful intercessors tend to be on, and on time.  Our leaders have carried this call countless times when I haven’t been available even for intervals that lasted for a number of weeks.  Mother Virginia Allen leads the intercessory ministry and God’s will is perfect.  If I were to pass on today, each part of our ministry can and will survive me.  Christ’s ministry doesn’t die or fall away when it isn’t based upon a person or personality.

We have had some leaders come and go, and come again.  This ministry has never been about Kimberly, my call, my anointing or any of that egotistical nonsense.  Yes, I said it!  If God’s authentic ministry can only come through the appointed giant, then Paul might have had to surrender to Peter;  And, Peter might have had to surrender to James. We are to cultivate the gifts of God given to men so that everyone can answer the call of God on their lives.   God will use anyone He has called, prepared, and anointed to do His will.  To this end, we have humble leaders who are committed to standing in the gap.  For this, I am soooooo grateful.

Our local leaders (we have some from all over the country) will be fellowshipping with friends and those who desire to enjoy a wonderful summer afternoon on Saturday, August 13 in Maplewood, NJ @ 3PM.  There’s going to be plenty of healthy food, fun and fellowship.  Simply fill out the contact form below and we’ll let you know the address Feel free to submit private prayer requests there also.

Most significantly, feel free to join us each Saturday Morning @9AM Call in: 219-509-8222 passcode 765946# (ROLWIM#).

IT’S A SURPRISE!

At least the details were.  I’m too nosey for anyone to pull off a real surprise party.  I figured something had to be up.

Nonetheless, my mom and a host of family and friends helped to make my 40th birthday party a momentous occassion.  Wendell, the A-1 host and older brother,  set the tone for anyone to feel free to take digs at the guest of honor, me.  Anthony and Deremius sang, Noelle, Fern and Steven sang while Patrick played, my dad and niece, Dayo, sent written tributes in their absence, and many rendered loving words.  Fern, of course, had to take it there and offer an unofficial stand-up performance slated for a typical ROAST and had everyone in stitches.  The resounding feedback from the party has been, “Your friend, Fern, she is crazy.”  I concur.  The folks even got me to sing at the end.   Ha!  We had a great time and I want to thank all who came (especially the one who journeyed at great sacrifice) because your love will be cherished forever.

I thank God for all these years of life, and trust Him for soooooo many more.  The one phrase that  has been resonating in my mind for the past few days is “fill in the blanks”.  When others have to speak about me, or you, what will they say as they “fill in the blanks”?  If the last chapter of my or your life were written at the close of today, how have we impacted others?  And, does that even matter?  The birthday party allowed me to hear some of what is written-figuratively- as others fill in the blanks. With God’s grace,  I’m living the only life I’ve been granted, such that so much more will be written.  How about you?

“WHATCHA BEEN DOING?”

It’s been a couple of months since I last blogged, and in response to the REPEATED text message I keep getting from one of my goddaughters, “I been doing.”

Since getting back from Kenya (and I will blog EXTENSIVELY about KENYA MISSION 2010), I’ve been simply working, spending time with some great friends, and fellowshipping through ministry.  How about the day I arrived back, another niece arrived? Yes, Jaylen Hyacinth Marie is a tender treasure.  And, her over-the-top momma didn’t care that I just had a conference across the world and was in a crunch between working and  the ministry schedule.  Nope.  Her daddy (Anthony) called and said, “When are you getting here?”  Jetlag was not an excuse.  So, after getting back home (I LOVE NEW YORK), I caught a good nap and went to Connecticut to see Jaylen.  She looked like she was trying to figure out who all these people who keep doting over her are, and adjusting to being outside of the womb.  Doesn’t she look hopeful, like most innocent children?  Even the sky isn’t the limit to what she can have, who she will be, and where she will go WITH GOD.

Then, I went to teach and fellowship with  preaching women at the Beautiful Feet Preaching Women’s Institute hosted by Dr. Kecia Decosta Ford.  We had an AWESOME time in the Lord at the Baltimore Harbor.  This institute was a most excellent gathering of women who carry the gospel.  Dr. Rita Twiggs launched the meeting with a Word from the Lord that settled the issues many women face in grappling with time, purpose and seemingly unfilled desires.  The womb to produce purpose will align itself to receive seed at the appointed time, of which God is fully capable, aware and willing to perform.  Then Bishop Millicent Hunter preached like…I can’t even finish typing how this woman preached.  Everybody has something that is in the closet but even those with skeletons in their closets, have not been disqualified from the more abundant LIFE in God.  Pastor Cynthia Hale dealt with the theme, beautiful feet and admonished the women to preach, and preach the gospel.  Every lecturer was anointed, authentic, professional, and well-equipped to sharpen each preacher. When I tell you that the teachers blessed our socks off, know that they did!   We all fellowshipped as one, no big I’s, and no little U’s.   This was a stellar gathering  in every way and I hope to attend every year!

Then I went to minister and fellowship with my sister in the gospel,  Prophetess Dr. Cheryl DosReis.  The Miracle Temple of Praise, birthed from Cheryl’s home, acquired a building and hosted a real and in-your-face session for women:  Women to Virtuous Women.  This session was especially delightful because it was a momentous time for my sister.  She accepted the call to pastor and decided to continue in preparation by receiving a Doctorate in Sacred Theology.  While the women were able to know that what we face in relationships isn’t brand new, even the “shady” situations have been covered in the Word of God, they were encouraged to know that if we want God, we’ve got to want what He wills for us.  I saw the compassion, knowledge, wisdom and burden Cheryl had for the women to walk in LIBERTY by living by faith according to God’s Word. We, along with another evangelisht  spoke into the lives of God’s women.  I’ve known Prophetess Dos Reis for quite some time and she is a well-balanced wife, mother, entrepreneur and woman of God.  Wow! She is going to be installed to the pastorate on Sunday, June 6th, 2010 at 5PM. (e-mail ladieprada@aol.com for more information).

Then I went to GGG Regenerated Ministries with Pastor Jill Mattocks for Let The Prophets Speak 2. I love this local assembly because they are going to dance, dance, dance and dance some more.  The assignment was to simply release the Word of the Lord for the corporate Body of Christ. This is a blog and we can’t go there, here.  My God.

I’ll be ministering at  Holy City Ministries in Brooklyn with Apostle Callie Jasper on  April 30 and May 1, Nassau Tabernacle of Praise in Elmont with Pastor  Tevor Parris  on May 9th,  Spirit of Life Fellowship in White Plains with Dr. Bishop Valli Walton on May 14th, and at  HCF&DM Holy Convocation in Baltimore, MD on May 28th.  (e-mail rolwiminc@aol.com for more information).

Like Kelly Price’s song, “…This is who I am, this is what I do.”   Spreading the good news is what I’ve been doing, and I am LOVING every bit of this life.

A TRIBUTE TO REVEREND TIMOTHY WRIGHT

I met Timothy Wright long before I could even remember knowing him.  He was a young budding musician and one of the organists at Washington Temple Church of God In Christ in Brooklyn, New York at the time.  My dad was a new young pastor and our church was walking distance from Washington Temple.  Timothy Wright encouraged my father, who was “dibbling” at playing the organ, to put me into the first class of the Washington Temple daycare.  Needless to say, I was in their first year of the daycare program, and my dad spent many hours talking to “Tim” each day when my father picked me up.  Dad tells me that “Tim” used to be at the church almost every day-as if he was paid to be there-honing his gift and playing that organ.  Back in those days, Upper Room Baptist and Washington Temple had the “baddest” (best) choirs in Brooklyn (aside from Institutional Church of God in Christ).  If I remember correctly, both church choirs did a couple of concerts on Sunday nights at our church.

This was long before Timothy Wright launched out and began a concert choir, community choir and married his wife, Co-Pastor Betty Wright.  Years later, I came to fellowship with them through gospel music industry functions and even visited his home a few times to pick up and drop off masters for recordings.  Of course, he didn’t remember me at all, but he remembered my dad.  By then (the late nineties), he was well-known as the “Godfather” of gospel music.  I would later interface with Pastor Wright and Co-Pastor Betty Wright several times.

The best way to describe Pastor Wright would be to share the testimony of a woman I met through him-Samantha Holmes Elliott.  When I met her years ago at a conference, she told me how much she adored Pastor Wright.  She had a solo gospel music project, and told me how much he supported her music ministry and career.  Just about everyone who I would come across after years in NYC gospel music radio would speak well of Timothy Wright in the same light.  He was truly a godfather.  Not the Mafioso image of a godfather.  But a father who would make sure that singers, psalmists, minstrels, and the like were advanced as much as he could push them, without any favors or “strings attached”.  Pastor Wright was known to call Samantha Holmes Elliott out of an audience, whether she was on the program or not, and hand her the mike and let her minister.  When he had a door, if she was in the building, chances were, she had an opportunity.

I can rattle off a number of young men and groups that Elder Wright would put up during his recordings and concerts just to give them “exposure”.  Anyone can observe his sons and their giftings and skills and know that the apples didn’t fall too far from the tree, and in fact, did as good trees do:  dropped fruit that is greater.  “Tim” had the ability to pick up the singers while frying chicken in the church basement-literally-and calling them to sing since the late seventies/early eighties and put ten leads on one song before it was popular.

All of my life, Reverend Timothy Wright has put out great gospel music.  When I joined the staff of WGBB 1240 AM radio’s Gospel All Night Thru the Morning in 2000, Timothy Wright and a number of New York artists who had been writing, singing, playing and recording before they ever got a play on the radio, charted Billboard, performed at industry showcases, ministered at conferences, or won any music awards, were always on rotation.  Elder Wright was loyal to his passion of ministry and truly a dynamo in the gospel music arena.  He was a servant loved by many and I will never forget the image of the young man behind the organ with a huge choir in a small Brooklyn church on Kent Avenue in Brooklyn, New York.  Reverend Wright may have had an inkling back then of where God would take him in helping to form the traditional choir sound, New York style.  I’m glad he lived to see it come to pass. The greatest lesson in watching his life is Pastor Wright valued and worked to perfect the gift that God gave him.  Since he practiced every day in the early seventies as a faithful steward, you and I can be encouraged to know over eight hundred songs later, that Jesus Will, Yes I’m A Believer, Testify, Been There Done That, Who’s On the Lord’s Side, Worthy Of The Praise, I Hear Music, Come Thou Almighty King, Moving The Spirit, Trouble Don’t Last Always and so much more.

Just reflecting on a life well-lived,

Prophetess KIM
